Reading a ruler is a very simple process when you know what to
look for. The program you are about to run tries to teach you how to
find the length of an object. When you start out, the ruler will be
displayed on the screen along with the current accuracy and length. An
arrow will slide across the screen to a mark on the ruler and you will be
asked to read the ruler in the correct form.
When you type in the answer you must remember that the computer can
only read something that it is programmed to understand. The way this
program understands inches is in the form:
<INCHES NUMERATOR/DENOMINATOR> or simply, <NUMERATOR/DENOMINATOR>.
1 1 / 2 1 / 2
The first example would read one and one half of an inch and the second
example would read one half of an inch. Another thing to remember is
that when entering an inch measurement, your answer must be in reduced
form. The computer will not accept 2/4 where 1/2 is expected.
For each question, you will be given two tries to answer it
correctly. Answering on the first try gives you more points than
answering on the second try.
GOOD LUCK!!!!
